What’s This Research About?

Background & Objectives
  • Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a serious public health issue that leads to disability and high healthcare costs.
  • Yoga may be a safe and helpful addition to treatment for CLBP.
  • A biopsychosocial approach is the best way to manage CLBP.  This means considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to a person’s pain.
  • This review looks at how yoga can be used to manage CLBP.
  • It explores the mental and physical benefits of yoga and how they relate to the problems caused by CLBP.

Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a widespread issue that not only causes physical pain but also impacts mental health, leading to anxiety, stress, and sometimes depression. Traditional treatments may not fully address these mental and physical aspects. This review looks at yoga as a potential all-around treatment for CLBP because yoga combines physical movement, breathing exercises, and meditation—targeting both body and mind.
